7 steps to get ahead this summer

Registration is now open!

Varsity Scholars are delighted to be opening registration for our ‘7 steps to get ahead this summer’ webinar, which has been our most requested session for 3 years in a row.

You can find out more about this online webinar by reading through the information listed on the drop down menu at the bottom of this page.

To register your school for a session click on the ‘BOOK NOW‘ button below to invite our Director, Kate Kettle to address your students online.

  • ‘7 steps’ has been specifically designed to support Year 12 students with beginning the university application process. It is particularly helpful for those candidates seeking to apply for top UK universities and/ or highly competitive courses.

Schools we have worked with have told us this session supports and reinforces the work they are doing in-school with students in the spring/ summer terms, and has helped reduce their workload in the autumn term.

Attendees leave the sessions with a clearer idea of what they should be doing over the summer holiday to advance their preparation for competitive universities and courses.

  • This webinar offers students guidance on how to use their summer holiday to prepare for submitting their UCAS form in the autumn.

In particular, we discuss the importance of researching degree course options; super-curricular (what it is, why it is important and actions you can take to build your profile); how to leverage personal interests and differentiate your application; how to identify gaps in your knowledge and plan for success; how students can begin thinking like undergraduates.

  • This webinar has been designed for Year 12 students, though we can adapt it to suit Years 11-13.

We offer two versions of this webinar - one for all UCAS applicants (which is perfect for whole-year assemblies); and the second for your early-applicant group (Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary). The main difference is degree of focus on super-curricular and on how it can be used to shape admissions test and interview preparation.

Please only book one session for your school.

Teachers and advisors are always welcome to attend our sessions.

We are always happy to speak to parents, and welcome to opportunity to discuss running a version of this webinar at an open day or parents evening.

  • Our webinars are delivered online.

This session is best organised between April-July, before the summer holidays.

We aim to be flexible to fit around the needs of the school timetable, so can deliver Monday-Friday, typically between 08:00-19:30.

We tend to deliver via Zoom, and can send you a link to share with students. Alternatively, you can invite us to a meeting on your preferred platform.

The webinar is designed to run for 45 minutes, but we have adapted versions of the session to meet your needs. We can run a shorter, 20-minute version, or an extended 90-minute session which includes and extended Q&A.

  • Our Director, Kate Kettle will lead this session.

You can read more about Kate and her background here.

  • Yes, this session is free of charge to schools.

In exchange, we ask schools to share details of our free 20-minute Director Consultations with parents via email.

This enables us to build our relationships with new clients who may be interested in purchasing additional support for their child, whilst reinforcing the messages delivered in our 7-steps webinar and offering tailored advice and guidance.

  • You are very welcome to contact us to discuss this session, or any of our other services.
